No place like Malaysia

In other words, i'm home!

its been a while since i last blogged ah, i realised..quite alot of things were happening lah, that's why.
well, for starters, i'm back in Malaysia. Arrived here last Sunday, and i've just been chilling out most of the time since. Just being with family and meeting up with friends and stuff..

I'll be in Malaysia for the next 3 months for those who are wondering, so yea, it's quite a long time..

Oh, did i mention, its soo hot here!..i feel really guilty as i say this, coz being very Malaysian, i was born and raised here most of my life, then i went to the UK for 9 months oni, now not used to the weather eredi..somehow, i feel less Malaysian in this area.

But yea, its good to be back. The ppl, the food, the culture...There's no place like Malaysia.

Summer's here!

Crunch Time!

Cruunchh crunchh crrunchh...

I've only got 3 weeks (including this one) till my final assessment day where i have to hand in everything i've done this year, and i'm beginning to get proper stressed out!...

I know i'm gonna be fine at the end of the day, but for now, its just the anticipation of planning and rushing all my work, its crunching my nerves...

This assessment is the last one of this year as well, and i've been getting Merit Plusses for the last two terms, and so if i wana get a Distinction this time (and a high one as well), i really have to work hard for it.

So yea, you can pray for me if you want, and wish me the best for these next 3 weeks...

Cruunchh cruunchh crrunchhh...

Malaysian or Chinese?

So...

Am i Malaysian or am i Chinese?

Well, alot of ppl should already know my stand on this, but i just feel i should blog about this..
Obviously, i'm friggin Malaysian!

Here are a few reasons why
-I was born and raised in Msia
-Both my parents were born and raised in Msia
-My grandparents were born and raised in Msia
-I grew up with mostly Malaysian friends, only like a few were actually Chinese from China
-Live a Malaysian Lifestyle (eg. mamaking...)
-If i went to China, i wouldn't really be accepted as one of them..

and one really really good one..

-if i was traveling to the UK for less than 3 months, i dun need a visa, but if wanted to do the same in China, i'd need a visa!
(There you go!..so much for being Chinese...)

If you're wondering why this post all of a sudden, i was actually talking to a Chinese person from church one day, and i was like, oh, i dun speak Mandarin, i'm Malaysian..and she was like, "well, that's a shame isnt it?"..and i was like, "no, i dun think so..i'm malaysian!"..

so there!

Coming Soon: Malaysian or Chinese?

I'm gonna take a walk..

"Screw this!..i can't take this anymore!...i'm going for a walk..."

And i took the craziest 'walk' i've ever taken..
It was 1.15am and i've had it with work and let-downs...needed a breather, needed to hear God again...
Dressed up, and started walking...reached Camberwell green..."hmm, should i sit at the park?...nah, too many cars...too many people, defeats the purpose........let's get a bus!"...First bus that came was the 148, "Perfect!..."...Took it to Westminster Bridge, got off...Stood at the bridge and looked out over the Thames. Flippin freezin!...But it was beautiful...*still so many cars around, what's going on?........oh, its Friday...*

The lights of the Houses of Parliament were off already, but they still looked great..
Walked to the London Eye, looked back towards Big Ben...*Man, its cold....but its beautiful*
Took a few night shots with my Canon, trying to stay as still as possible, leaning against a pillar...
Walked along the Thames, enjoyin the view, getting away from work, from the let-downs..
Walked over to Jubilee Bridge, and crossed the Thames. Very quiet night so far.

Walks over to Trafalgar Square and its a different scene all of a sudden!..loads and loads of ppl!..drunk and jolly ppl!..
Think its time to head on home...its now 2:10am or sumthing..waited at the bus stop for the 12 to come by.
Went up the 12, got a seat..Turns out the 3 chicks i was sittin with were Malays!..small world...
i sit there acting stupid, listening to them talk about everything girls talk about, waiting for a chance to say sumthing in Malay...chance didnt come...

12 reaches Camberwell Green, and i'm headin back home...
"God, you hear the deepest cries of my heart...Fill this lonely heart of mine with You"

I reach home, its 5 to 3am, wake my laptop up, and i figured, "...that was one crazy 'walk'...i need to write about this.."

Rambut sudah panjang oh...

For those of you who havent been skypin with me, here's a photo of how long my hair is already..
(and its only gettin longer!!!..muahahaha)

Spring's Snow...

Spring's Snow...an oxymoron?..Apparently not..

I was quite sure the weather forecast on Tuesday wasn't joking when it said it was gona snow on Sunday and it was nice and sunny that day.
I was doing shopping before our Connect Group dinner on Thursday at Tesco with my friend Simon..we were at the counter and i was just mentioning to Simon, "Hey mate, apparently its gonna snow on Sunday you know.." and the lady at the counter started laughing so hard!..like she just heard the most ridiculous thing!..On the way out of Tesco's, i was like, "We'll see who's gonna be laughing when Sunday comes..heh!"

Are you laughing now, Tesco lady??!...(muahahahahaha!!!)

Quite alot of Londoners have grown to hate the snow though, that's because of the inconvenience it brings. But i pray the snow never loses its magic to me..I pray i'll never get bored of seeing snow, no matter how inconvenient it would be.

Kristy & Noah

Woohoo!!..its 1:45am and i've just completed my latest drawing!

This one is of Kristy and Noah.
Noah is George and Kristy Botha's first and newborn baby. The reference picture for this drawing was taken when Noah was a mere 2 days old. He should be a few weeks old now...(George is Hillsong Powerhouse's Pastor)

(George, hope you like it!)

My table in my room. Notice the drawing beside the reference photo.

Anthony, you and me, we're going for an exhibition!

Yep, just got news, that one of my drawings, Anthony, that i submitted for an exhibition was chosen.
Xhibit, is an annual exhibition held by the Student Union of University of the Arts London (my Uni).
This year they had over 340 entries from students of the UAL for the exhibition, and only 41 pieces were chosen.

Wooohoooo!!!!

I'll try to keep this blog updated with what's happening!

Wahh..alot of things to say..

Why is it, every time i post up a blog, its because i havent posted anything in a long time?!..
but hey, here i am, so yea, here goes..

loads have happened since i last made my last post...its kinda hard to put them out like that in bullet form..but yea, i'll try..
(gosh where do i start???)

church recorded the next live worship album (a dream come true for me)
went through a great term at school..
got way way better results that i thought i'd get..
basically got a Merit Plus, (like a B+) when i was expecting like a pass only or a merit..and i even did better than my last term,....last term got a 77%, which is a merit plus, and this term an 84%..i think only like 1% less than a distinction..so, yea,..great news!..but i wun take for granted my results, i'm definitely putitng much more effort loh...

waaah..just realised there's so many things to talk about...i'm gonna split it into separate blog entries...so yea, wait for it...

(The team at church setting up on the album recording day..for some who dunno, i go to Hillsong Church London)

Designing for Hillsong

Man, its indeed a dream come true for me...just a year ago, i wouldn't have imagined myself designing stuff for Hillsong..and here i am now, one year later, designing a flyer for Powerhouse and Wildlife..i have to say, it was quite surreal for me designing the flyers and putting the 'Hillsong' logo at the top left corner..(for those of you who duno, that's their trademark)..

so, yea, being quite a fan all these years, singing their songs, buying their albums, watching their videos, checking out their website...and now, i'm a part of Hillsong Church London, next month they'll be recording their next album, i'm serving on Team, and who knows?..i might be designing their website pretty soon...

and the best is yet to come!

(Thanks God, you always remember all our hopes and dreams...)

Happy New Year!!!

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

2007's been a great year indeed...(Here's a quick look at what i did)
-Started the year off with my 3rd semester doing my Foundation in Art & Design at Kolej Bandar Utama and finished in May...
-Got bugged by mum to write essays for Astro Scholarship Awards application..(thanks mum!)
Send in application and waited for reply, along the way, searched and applied for design universities in the UK. Had our eyes on University of the Arts London, spesifically London College of Communication.
-Went around with a good friend of mine, Jinchi, to Melaka, Singapore & Penang, helping her take photos for her Master's thesis...
-Worked as a life-drawing model in KBU to earn some pocket money
-Got reply from few Uni's, namely, UCE Birmingham, Middlesex Uni, & University of the Arts, London.
(For those wondering why i chose UAL, its because you can say its like the Harvard of Art & Design, a very prestigious and renowned Insitute. My college, London College of Communication, or previously called London College of Printing, has a history that goes back to the mid 1800's....how can you beat that??!...well, what can i say?...i love my University!)

(back to the list...haha!)

-Got a call from Astro, got shortlisted, went in for 1st interview (went in there and talk talk talk oni, hahah!...)
-Waited for a while
-Got another call from Astro, congratulations, got shortlisted again, went in for final interview (again, went in there and talk talk talk oni....even talked about my hair!...well, Ms. Lai Kuan started it, not me... :) )
-Waited for what seemed like forever!!
-Got a call from Astro, congratulations, accepted to receive the Astro Scholarship Award... (woohooo!!!)

(long story short)

-Flew to Heathrow, London on Sept 11...(dun worry, i'm alright)...
-Settled down in my new home, (Uni Halls of Residence)...
-Sight-saw around London for a few days (while waiting for college to start)
-College starts, here we go!
-Along the way, had a great great time, learning so many things, experiencing so much, made alot of friends...
-End of 10 week term, handed in work for assessment...(we had 2 projects...One, write, design and produce a book. Mine was an 80 page book. Two, write, design and put together a functional website)
-Got our grades, i got a Merit Plus...(wanted a Distinction, but the standards are super high, only a few got that)...
-Christmas break came, hooray!
-Did a pencil drawing of a homeless guy called Anthony
-Spent Christmas with a few friends somewhere outside Central London
-Went up to Sheffield to stay with my best mate Richard for 5 days (beautiful place!)
-Came back just in time for the New Year's Eve celebration in Central London, me and my friends were among the 700,000 people that were out on the streets of London to invite the New Year..(it was crazy!!..but brilliant..)

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008!

Well, its been an awesome year altogether. So many things happened. Never could've imagined studying overseas, furthermore, in a place like London, and in a university like the UAL. (again, thanks Astro)...
its been an exciting year.....but...the best is yet to come!
